Our CPR Instructors Have Good Experience (and Good Hearts)

Brandi Pawliuk

Brandi has been a Certified CPR Instructor since 2008. She is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alberta and MacEwan University as well as a Masters in Phychiatric Nursing. Since 2008, she has also been an instructor at MacEwan University in the Registered Psychiatric Nursing Program.

Brandi worked on unit 301 of the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital for seven years - and still works there on a casual basis. Her primary responsibilities included patient care, medication administration, facilitating groups and educating patients and families.

Why did she choose the profession of nursing? "I love child psychiatry and for the past 10 years I have loved working with kids," she says. "They have a great spirit and resilience - and I love their amazement at life."

She's also a mom of three. Her daughter was born in the summer of 2011, son in 2012 and most recently a daughter in 2015. The best thing about being a mom? "Seeing her happy smiley face in the morning," she says. Then, thinking again, she adds, "Everything, actually."

Brandi is an animal lover too - not just Dr. Bones (she and her husband have four other dogs and they love them equally).

Brandi has Certificates in the Effective De-escalation Techniques Instructor Course and the Cognitive Behavorial Therapy Certificate Course and won the REACH Award in Achieving Performance Excellence in 2007.
